The night was short. We got up at 4.30 to start the hike early, but before we set off, the view over Lake Bohinj enveloped in fog left us with our mouths open.

After the hike, I took a detour returning home. I explored some dirt roads in the area, and from here I could actually see the mountain range I had just climbed.

This was our highest destination for this hike - Mt. Mahavšček at 2008 meters above sea level.

We started the hike in the Vrata valley at 5 a.m.

The hike began before dawn. It was 6.30 when we set off from the valley. The first sun rays just hit Triglav.

We were never alone - even though this is the most difficult marked trail, it's still very popular with many hikers.
