I had doubts as to the conditions at the top of Kamniski vrh. It was enveloped in fog.
Will I need a jacket?
I was late and the sun hid behind the mountains when I was in the lower part of the hike.
The clouds at the top persisted.
It looked dramatic.
Sunset colors through the trees.
On the slope approaching the summit.
Pink and orange fog.
The trail was a bit slippery from the rain in the past days.
Mists around Planjava.
Krvavec TV tower was hiding behind clouds.
Bluish evening descending over Kamnik.
Finally on top.
Fiery clouds above Velika planina.
Blue and pink.
Velika planina.
Krvavec.
Kriska planina.
From Zvoh: Velika planina to the left, Kamniški vrh right below me and Kamnik to the far right.
Kamniški vrh up close.
This bench on the ridge below the summit offers great views and is a great pit stop before the final stretch of the climb.
The visibility sucked!
We could hardly make out the town of Kamnik not that many kilometers to the south.
The fog stopped at Kamniški vrh.
The slopes of Kamniski vrh, and Kriska planina in the background.
The peak was covered in colorful flowers.
It was getting dark quickly.
Two benches for weary hikers. :)
Manca and I with Velika planina in the background.
Looking towards Kamniški vrh.
C'est moi. :))
Manca.
Kamniški vrh.
Stari vrh ski slopes.
Kamniški vrh and Velika planina.
The road leads up to the top of a hill which is a popular place to pick chestnuts.
It was surprising that despite many brown leaves on the forest floor the trees weren't bare yet.
Looking up provided great photo ops.
Two leaves ready to fall off.
Trees turning yellow.
What I came for - chestnuts.
I just couldn't stop looking up! It made me quite dizzy.
I still wasn't at the top of the hill.
A play of light and shadow.
The view form the top over the Sava river valley.
Upon return to the valley, I took some photos of the railway tracks in the setting sun.
I waited for a train, but none came.
Mali Draški vrh, Veliki Draški vrh to the left, Triglav and Rž to the right.
Kamniški vrh and Sv. Ana church in Tunjice.
Planina Javornik with Viševnik, Mali Draški vrh, Veliki Selišnik and Triglav in the background.
Snow-capped mountains above Jesenice.
Snowy trees.
The view down the ski course from the top of Mt. Španov vrh.
Enjoying the sun at the top.
Slopes of Mt. Vajnež and Mt. Potoški Stol.
Mt. Golica.
What a location for a mountain hut!
Slopes.
I sank into the snow up to my waist for this photo.
Winter landscape.
Clouds started to roll in.
On the way down at the edge of the ski piste.
Mt. Golica shrouded in clouds.
Going down was easy!
More snowy slopes in clouds.
Mt. Dovški Križ in dramatic clouds.
Looking from Zvoh towards Kamniški vrh.
After some hearty "jota" we looked towards Mt. Tosc and Veliki draski vrh before heading for the valley.
Me in front of Mt. Begunjski vrh.
The red rock face of Mt. Begunjski vrh.
It was a sunny Tuesday and I only started at about 6 p.m.
After about 20 minutes I reached the meadows below the steep slopes of Kamniski vrh.
From the steep trail the view back was wonderful. The meadows were bathing in the late afternoon sun.
Smarna gora in the distance.
I was racing with the last sun rays.
The path is winding and steep.
Backlit grass.
Trees.
Kamnik in the distance.
The last stretch of the steep trail.
Just below the saddle from where a grassy path leads to the top to the right.
Kamniški vrh on the right hand side.
The peak.
I just barely caught the last sun rays.
Velika planina.
The sun was gone.
Panorama.
Mekinje and Stranje.
Looking down.
Senturska gora just before sunset.
It was almost dark by the time I got down to the meadows and before the trail plunged into the forest.
Last Sunday I decided I needed to stretch my legs again. This time it didn't look good and I was praying not to get soaked.
Cloudy.
At the top. It was probably raining on Krvavec.
A quick snap with my small camera propped on a bench before I raced down.
