Rakov Škocjan and Lake Cerknica
The view from the Big natural bridge already reveals the high level of the river Rak, which has flooded a large portion of the otherwise dry meadow.
We did descend to the valley floor but didn't get very far. The ground was soggy and the passage under the bridge completely under water,
Climbing down the other side provided me with more photo ops.
But as luck would have it, I left the tripod in the car and had to shoot long exposures hand-held.
The river Rak was fast and furious.
The seemingly slow and docile river turns into rapids right under the bridge.
The bridge is 37 meters high.
I almost got wet a couple of times standing very close to the water.
The river flows down into the cave of Tkalca jama.
In the dry season this river bed is completely dry.
The beginning of the rapids.

Looking from under the bridge.

A stick wedged between the rocks.

Lake Cerknica is extremely high, flooding a large area along with many trees.
