Mt. Menina and first snow
We parked the car along the gravel road and walked towards the top in the distance.
After fifteen minutes we passed this little chaped of St. Anton.
The ground was barely covered with snow that had fallen a few days before.
The area is full of small lakes that were now almost frozen.
We walked past fence and a flank of trees ...
... and through the forest ...
... across the grassy plains ...
... until we got to the summit called Vivodnik at 1508 meters above sea level.
The views towards the Kamnik Alps were fantastic.
Velika planina plateau in the foreground and Mt. Krvavec in the background.
The Kamnik Alps: mighty Mt. Planjava to the left and Mt. Ojstrica to the right.
Mt. Ojstrica in all its glory.
After a few minutes of merciless wind at the top we ran back for cover. And we weren't the only ones. ;)
Layers to the south.
Last sun rays.
The light was getting sweeter and sweeter by the minute.
I took out the battery for every shot and warmed it up in my hands.
It looks heavenly, but it was coooold.
I still couldn't put away the camera.
Looking back to where we came from.
The road to the valley.
A bit lower the temperatures were more tolerable and the slope bathed in the late-afternoon light.
A pile of logs at the side of the road.
