We sailed out of the Izola marina at about 9 a.m.

A rusty trawler was moored at the pier; I don't know if it is still used for fishing.

Rust on the hull.

Sea gulls.

We headed north, to Trieste.

There were plenty of other vessels, all hurrying to the same spot to see the race.

A big orange boat with spectators observing the thin line of sailboats in the distance.

First we had to strain our eyes to even see the sails.

Then they got closer really quickly. Here they were turning around a buoy.

One of the fastest sailboats.

Many more were coming.

The ones with bigger sails were, naturally, faster.

Some people were enjoying themselves a lot!

An old-timer. I will have to ask how it's called.

I don't know how they managed not to collide in that crowd.

Countless sailboats.

More than 2,000 sailboats, actually.

After spending a coupld of hours watching Barcolana, we headed back to Izola to drop off one of the "crew".

Reflection.

Izola.

Repetition.

An attempt at kite-boarding or just showing off the kite? Note the ship in the background.

As there was time left, we sailed to the south past Fiesa to Piran. This is Piran church on top of a cliff.

Piran from the other side.

Piran and its colorful houses.

We sailed into the Piran Bay and then turned around.

The church dominating the town.

Colors.

Panorama.

Sail and rope.

Oily reflections.

After a hearty dinner of calamari, we sat back and enjoyed the sunset in the marina.

Two men and a boat.
